Researcher Access Data Information Use System
About RADIUS
RADIUS is a suite of security services designed to protect data from undesired access and mishandling. With our various stakeholders in mind, RADIUS supports ICPSR's mission of safe dissemination of data covering topics such as authorization, authentication, encryption, and access.
RADIUS Services
MyData: ICPSR's Single Sign-On (SSO) System
MyData is a user registration and authentication system for all ICPSR products and websites. The system creates a more secure environment for users and enables them to sign up for services that ICPSR is developing. Users can visit their MyData Dashboard for quick links to the various ICPSR products.
Researcher Passport: ICPSR's Digital Identity and Profile
ICPSR's Researcher Passport captures and verifies the information that data repositories need to know in order to share their data with you. It can then be provided to participating repositories to expedite your access to their data.
VDE: ICPSR's Virtual Data Enclave
The virtual data enclave (VDE) provides access to restricted-use data via a virtual machine launched from the researcher's own computer but operating on a remote server. The virtual machine is isolated from the user's physical computer, restricting the user from downloading files or parts of files to their physical computer. The virtual machine is also restricted in its external access, preventing users from emailing, copying, or otherwise moving files outside of the secure environment, either accidentally or intentionally. To receive output or other files from the VDE, users must request a disclosure review from ICPSR staff.
RAAPID: ICPSR's Restricted data Application, Access, and Passport ID System
For most restricted-use data, ICPSR offers users the ability to request the data via an online application through the ICPSR Data Access Request System (RAAPID).
